I have found that most problems with RealPlayers not playing video clips can be solved quickly by either downloading and installing the most recent version of the player, or reinstalling it if you already have the most recent version. Click here to download the latest version of the RealPlayer .

1. If you are behind a fire wall like "Zone Alarm," and you get a message that says something like "RealPlayer wants to act as a server," click "Yes." This allows your player to better manage your internet connection and will improve performance. Your system will still be secure.

2. Clips won't stream continuously. I keep getting "net congestion" messages on Real Player, the sound cuts out, or the video starts and stops. Or, I get a message that says the RealVideo Server has reached maximum capacity".

This may happen if your modem is too slow, your ISP's connection to the 'net is overloaded, you are connecting from a great distance, a major "net storm" is on, or if our web site is exceptionally popular that day.

In any case, if you have these congestion or traffic problems:

• Increase the buffer size in the "Perfectplay/buffer play" option in "'Connection" the RealPlayer "Preferences" panel . This will put a significant part of the clip into a buffer memory file that will help smooth play back. The worse your connection, the larger you should make the buffer.
• Or, as a last resort, bookmark my site & try returning on another day or time when there is less traffic or net congestion. A severe "net storm" can make the videos virtually unwatchable,.
• Traffic is usually light in the morning before about 11:00 AM. Eastern or after 10PM. Sunday morning is usually a very good time to access my site.
• If you get a message that our video server capacity is maxed out, try watching a different video. They are not all on the same server.

3. I get a message that says "this is not a real audio file."

• The old RealPlayer that comes with Windows 95 is audio only. You need to download the new RealPlayer that plays video too. Click here to download the latest version of the RealPlayer .

4. I just downloaded & installed the Real Player, but the player doesn't launch when I click on the video links to your videos.

• It's best to quit your web browser (Microsoft Explorer, Netscape Navigator etc.) before you install the player. If you didn't do that, try reinstalling the RealPlayer with your browser off.
• You may need to manually configure your browser to recognize and launch the RealVideo Player.

5. Clips marked "RealVideo 10" require the latest version of the Real Player and will not play on older players.
